Safeguarding Officially Introduced to the Indonesian Ice Skating Community
In a historic step toward safer sports in Indonesia, the first-ever safeguarding introduction seminar for ice skating community was successfully held on 27 April 2025, under the theme “Protecting Our Skaters: A Safeguarding Approach.” The event was conducted alongside the 2025 Indonesia Open National Ice Skating Championships for Figure Skating and Short Track Speed Skating.
With the support and guidance of the Safeguarding Officer from the National Olympic Committee of Indonesia (KOI), the seminar brought together more than 100 participants—including athletes, coaches, parents, and officials from across the country.
“Protecting our athletes goes beyond physical safety. It’s about building a sport culture based on respect, responsibility, and awareness,” said a representative of the Federasi Ice Skating Indonesia (FISI).
“We are proud to begin this journey and deeply grateful to the National Olympic Committee of Indonesia for their support.”
As part of the Ongoing Safeguarding Movement in sport, FISI is committed to embedding safeguarding practices into all future athlete development programs, competitions, and educational outreach.
This seminar represents not only a learning moment, but a turning point—where the ice skating community takes a unified step toward prioritizing the safety and well-being of every skater.
